Sodium Bicarbonate can be obtained from both natural sources as well as being manufactured synthetically. Naturally, Sodium Bicarbonate are from deposits of minerals such as trona (formed in alkaline lake environments primarily located in the Americas) and nahcolite (which is found in several locations including parts of Africa and Asia). However more recently synthetic manufacturing has been used to create the substance on a larger scale, and it is made through the Solvay process. The Solvay process involves chemically transforming Sodium chloride through various reactions into Sodium Bicarbonate. Don't worry though, we only use naturally derived Sodium Bicarbonate in all our products!
