The Story Behind The Oil
Patchouli leaf oil comes from the leaves of the Pogostemon Cablin plant, which is native to Southeast Asia. The leaves are dried and then steam-distilled to extract the oil. The first recorded use of patchouli leaf oil dates back to the 7th century, when it was used in China as a medicinal herb. In the 13th century, it was introduced to Japan, where it was used as an incense. And by the 18th century, it had made its way to Europe, where it became a popular ingredient in perfumes.
